About Fred Walkover

I am passionate about the growth and development of others, and I have invested significant time during my leadership career creating content and experiences to drive personal growth. I engaged and challenged leaders and team members to develop new muscles and competencies to enhance their effectiveness. My career has taught me how effective teams work so the value of the team exceeds the sum of just the team members. I’ve experienced the behaviors that undermine a team’s ability to optimize and learned how to coach a team to develop new behaviors necessary for true teamwork.

My coaching philosophy is anchored in the belief that every person brings value and can learn. It starts with their commitment to be a better version of themselves. People want and need love and respect, both from and for themselves, and it all starts with greater self-awareness. I appreciate how exposing and facing our own growth edges can be uncomfortable; yet it is in this space where we develop. My clients experience how I bring unconditional regard and openness to my coaching sessions. My humble and confident engagement style creates a comfortable and brave space for my clients to lower their guards and explore their true growth edges.

Music has always been a center ground for me. As a singer 4-part barbershop Acapella harmony, I most enjoy bringing meaning to the lyrics of the music in a special way that touches the hearts of the audience. I’ve discovered that, just like leadership, removing the tension and self-imposed blockers allows me to produce a freer tone to carry the meaning to the audience. Leadership is an art and refining your craft takes investment and meaningful practice.

My professional experience has centered on operational leadership with a concentration in field and service operations. My passion for coaching and developing others has been a key driver in my many leadership roles spanning over 30 years, from a small team manager to a national vice president/general manager, and spanning multiple industries including renewable energy, telecommunications, consumer electronic service, and retail operations. My career has been balanced across large corporate businesses and feisty startups. As a lifelong learner, I have built on my undergraduate degree in business management from the University of Florida with an ongoing study to develop a better understanding of my strengths, and how I can bring my best self to each leadership role and personal interaction. I continued to sharpen my tools by earning an MBA from Drexel University. My volunteer and board experience has focused on improving literacy and building opportunities for underprivileged youth. I have also served as a SCORE business mentor for the SBA helping entrepreneurs explore, chart, and achieve their business ownership dreams.

My credentials, degrees, and career roles built my foundation, but the many interactions of working with and leading people have enriched the relevant and meaningful experience I bring to this coaching engagement. Every moment is an opportunity to be your best self and grow.
