Create A High Functioning Team
The efficacy of a team is determined by many factors. At its core, a highly functioning team learns how to communicate and collaborate more effectively, enabling faster and deeper ideation, decision-making, and functional execution. The sum of these actions translates to consistently improved outcomes.
To deliver top-tier results, teams must adapt quickly, build resiliency, and commit to actions with a “full-body yes.” This means moving past individual agendas, egos, underutilized strengths, absent voices, poor coordination, and a lack of clarity around their purpose. These factors impact decision-making, meeting effectiveness, proper resource allocation, results, and more. Expert Team Coaching Services are about using dialog, reflection, and experimentation to evoke greater team awareness and learning, leading to stronger team behaviors and greater effectiveness. As the Navy Seal’s mantra states…
“Slow is smooth and smooth is fast”
The best teams are those that understand the overall goal, while working together to achieve that goal. That means understanding individual strengths and responsibilities, working for the good of the team, and keeping all lines of communication wide open. When it comes to Career Team Coaching, the overarching goal is to support the team. That means focusing on the hard work of improving how a team transparently communicates, collaborates, and assigns work, addresses performance detractors, and drives the alignment necessary to optimize the team’s full potential.
Crescendo Coaching Group offers business Team Coaching with a focus on the team as its own entity, where each participant is part of an intact team aligned around a common purpose. This differs from Group Coaching, where a cross-section of individuals join together for coaching on a common set of topics.
What To Expect
Team coaching sessions begin with the coach working with the sponsor or team leader to clarify and align specific session goals. The team then communicates with the leader to create the team coaching engagement norms, review the initial team assessment, and select a primary area of focus. During regular career team coaching sessions, the coach will guide the group to explore a specific team behavior aligned with their goal, with a focus on both implicit and explicit team strengths, obstacles, systems impact, and stakeholder expectations. This is to determine what is working and what is not. The team also explores potential solutions through active experiments and the creation of possible solutions to implement.
In-person coaching may be included to observe and coach teams in their natural work-meeting environment. Like pausing live-action sports, the coach will observe and share how the team is employing their planned solution.
Professional team coaches meet with the sponsor/team leader over regular check-in sessions. For some team engagement goals, personal development coaching may be provided to each team member to strengthen the overall team coaching impact. At the conclusion of the career or business coaching engagement, the team will complete and debrief a post-engagement team assessment.
